FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Safe Water Kenya and mFrontiers LLC Named as Winners of a 2014 Oracle Sustainability Innovation Award
Award to be presented by Jeff Henley, Oracle Chairman of the Board, during Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco on Wednesday, October 1.
Libertyville, Illinois, USA, September 4, 2014 – Safe Water Kenya (“SWK”) needed a more efficient way to capture survey information on water filter installations in remote areas of Kenya. The solution was provided by the mFinity® Enterprise Mobility Management Platform (“EMMP”). With their new mobile app, SWK has increased installation productivity and accountability to funding sources. As a result, they expect to expand their operations into other countries that are in need of clean water. Both mFrontiers and Safe Water Kenya will receive recognition for innovation in sustainability as they will be presented with the 2014 Oracle Sustainability Innovation Award on October 1 in San Francisco, California. This award recognizes the innovative use of Oracle technology to address global sustainability business challenges.
mFinity simplified the process of developing, deploying, and managing a mobile app that is used to collect required survey information, including a questionnaire, photo, signature, and the GPS coordinates of the installation. Because most of the installations are in areas not served by cell phone towers, off-line access to mobile data was an application requirement.
When surveyors return from remote installations and have access to communications, they simply click on an icon to update the host database at Safe Water Kenya headquarters with their survey information. By using the Oracle-based mFinity platform to replace cumbersome paperwork with a mobile app, Safe Water Kenya increased productivity, improved data integrity, and increased accountability to providers of funding for their non-profit humanitarian organization.
“The Oracle Sustainability Innovation Awards are about honoring customers who are committed to making environmental issues a priority across the enterprise,” said Jon Chorley, Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Product Strategy, Oracle. “This year’s award winners showcased unique ways to reduce costs and improve business efficiencies through innovative green practices. We are thrilled to support their eco-transformation and sustainability success.”
